How I Got Started

With this being my first ever blog, I figured how I got into loan origination was as good a place to start as any! Now I’m not an English major so there’s bound to be some grammar mistakes in these blogs so just bear with me and we’ll get through it! If you’ve looked around on the rest of my website then you’ve probably seen that I’ve been doing loan origination now for a couple years, and it’s came with it’s ups and its downs! I would say I definitely got into this business at the worst possible time a far as how the market was going. But I still wouldn’t change it for anything!

It was early 2022 when I started looking into getting a remote job because my wife was travel nursing at the time, and I was looking to try to find something where we would be able to travel together. And with my experience in finance and real estate I started looking into loan origination. It just so happen to be that one of my wifes best friends from high school had been doing loan origination ever since he graduated high school, and talked to me about how much he loved it and that it was a great field to be in. So after that and talking to my wife I was pretty much sold on pursuing that as my career. Fast forward mid 2022, and I had completed all of my education requirements and passed the national test, but I still hadn’t found who I wanted to work for yet because I wanted to make sure I could pass all the tests before applying anywhere! Well after reaching back out to Zack(my wifes friend from high school), that I had all of my certifications he said he could get me on where he works at, with that being Price Mortgage.

Ever since then I haven’t really looked back, it has definitely had it’s challenges at times with how high the interest rates have gotten and the pricing of homes increasing by so much, but there’s positive way to look at things. I’ve seen he hard challenges of this business early, and it’s made me a better at my craft for it. There was a significant increase in the mortgage business in 2024 compared to 2023, and I’ve been told by professionals that have been in this business a long time that you just have to ride the waves, and be there for people when they need you!
